You’ll be reimbursed for any costs to replace your credit cards, or for any fraudulent use, if they are lost or stolen on your trip.

You’ll be reimbursed for any costs to replace your passport, travel documents or travellers cheques if they are lost or stolen on your trip. And if your cash is stolen – you’re covered.

  1. Luggage, personal effects and delays

You’re covered if your things are lost or stolen during your trip.

If your luggage is delayed more than 12 hours and you need to buy some clothes, travel insurance will reimburse these costs – in moderation. You can’t go buying a Gucci handbag and claim that on your travel insurance for example!

  1. Cancellation fees and lost deposits

You’re covered for any cancellation fees and lost deposits for your pre-paid travel arrangements if you cannot make your flights or planned accommodation due to circumstances out of your control such as sickness, injuries, strikes or natural disasters.   1. Disruption of your journey

If your flight is delayed for more than 6 hours, your food and any unforeseen accommodation you might need to pay for will be reimbursed.

  1. Alternative transport

If you incur delay and cannot make a pre-planned event such as a wedding, funeral, conference or any pre-paid tour your alternative transport expenses will be paid for by your travel insurance.

  1. Personal liability

Cover for legal liability including legal expenses for bodily injuries or damage to property of other persons as a result of a claim made against you.

If you’re delayed returning home from your holiday and have a dog or cat being looked after, travel insurance will cover the additional kennel or cattery fees. Also if your pet is injured while you’re away, your vets bills are covered too. How awesome is that?

Documents required for travel insurance-

1) Claim Form

You might be required to fill an online or an offline claim for to initiate the claim settlement process from your side.

2) Policy Document 

Your travel insurance policy is the most crucial document. It might have a dedicated customer number or personal details that say that the policy is yours. This is the first thing that the insurance company will check in case of a claim. They will also crosscheck the issue faced with the coverage in your travel insurance policy. If the issue is covered, the claims team will initiate the inspection process. If not, then the claim shall be rejected.


3) Identification
Some insurance companies might ask you to submit some kind of identification document such as your passport copy or Aadhaar copy.


4) Trip Tickets
In case of international travel insurance, you might have to submit flight (other travel) tickets. Such kind of documentation comes in handy in case of claims related to trip delay, trip cancellation, etc.

5) Cancellation
If there’s a trip cancellation related to a medical issue, the insurance company might need a doctor’s statement stating the same.


6) Airport Correspondence
Such type of documentation becomes crucial in case of baggage delay/loss. You need to get the appropriate correspondence from the airport authorities that verifies your claim. 


7) FIR 
A First Information Report (FIR) is required for claims related to theft of baggage. A detailed report needs to be fetched from the appropriate police officials.

8) Loss of Passport 
If you lose your passport on your foreign trip, you need to submit a photocopy of the document along with the claim form.

9) Hospital Bill 

In case of an unfortunate event of an accident, you need to submit the relevant hospital bills. This is assuming you went for a reimbursement claim and not a cashless one.

10) Discharge Card

In Case You Have Prolonged Stay At a Hospital, You Need To Submit A Discharge Card From The Hospital Where You Were Treated Again, This is Not Applicable in Case of Cashless Claims
